Storme Wood and Andie Redwine on Film Courage

We were in LA a couple of weeks ago to screen Paradise Recovered. While we were there, we joined Karen Worden and David Branin on their Indiefilm Radio Show, Film Courage. We had a great time. Film Courage is a great show and a great resource for indie filmmakers and fans. Scroll down in the player below to find the show featuring myself and Writer/Producer Andie Redwine. And while you’re at it, check out some of the other shows as well.

Paradise Recovered Writer/Producer Andie Redwine and I are in LA for the west coast premiere of Paradise. We’ll be talking Paradise Recovered and Indie Filmmaking today on the Film Courage radio show. Tune your computer to LA Talk Radio Channel 2 at 12PM Pacific time today to hear us live. I’ll post a link to the podcast when that’s available as well.

One of the things we’ll be talking about on the radio show is our Monday (tomorrow) night screening. Paradise Recovered will be showing at LA’s Downtown Independent theater as an Official Selection of Film Courage Interactive. If you’re in LA, please come on out!

And stay after the screening for a party featuring Sara Melson and sponsored by Musical Family Tree.

A lot of good things happening for Paradise Recovered right now. I’ll keep you posted. Hope you can join us on the radio today and at the Downtown Independent tomorrow night.

Paradise Recovered a Top Pick at the Heartland Film Festival

A still from the feature film Paradise Recovered

Paradise Recovered is getting some great attention surrounding our World Premiere at this week’s Heartland Film Festival. In Lou’s View’s, at the Indianapolis Business Journal, it is a top pick for “What to see at this year’s Heartland Film Festival.” And Jenny Elig at the Indianapolis Star also has Paradise Recovered listed as one of her favorites in “A selection of Heartland films.”

Saturday night is our World Premiere and there are three more showings throughout the week. If you’re in Indy or attending Heartland, we would love to see you at one of the screenings. For more info on how you can join us, CLICK HERE.

We are also speaking on a panel at the Heartland Institute Workshop on the 18th. It’s a lunchtime Discussion of Independent Filmmaking.

So I’m packing my bags and I’ll see you at Heartland!

Cast and Crew Screenings

Cast and Crew at the Alamo Drafthouse

Our first cast and crew screening was at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. How cool is that. It was a huge success. I love the Drafthouse. I think it’s the best movie theater in the country. I’m so glad that all of us who worked so hard on this film got to sit down, break bread, and share the first Paradise Recovered big screen experience at the Alamo.

And thanks to Eddie and the Drafthouse crew for treating us so well!

Cara Jean Wahlers to The Rescue

Cara Jean Wahler's and Guitar

Music is such a big part of a movie. For our favorite films, a few bars of a theme song is all it takes to conjure up fond memories. And so, when making a film of your own, choosing the right music is a huge deal. Add to that the limitations of a micro-budget and we were more than a little concerned when it came time to find the music for Paradise Recovered.

One day when I was deep in it. Surfing the web for music. Listening to song after song. Trying to figure out how, when and where we were going to get great music at a price we could afford. I got an email from Writer/Producer Andie Redwine. It was a link to an unassuming website featuring the music of Cara Jean Wahlers. Andie said that Cara was an old friend. Wanted to know what I thought of her music. I clicked on one of the songs. Guitar, Cello and a beautiful voice. Rootsy and singer songwritery in the best of all possible ways. It was perfect.

I’m so glad to have met Cara and Grover (Grover Parido is the cellist that composes and plays with Cara). I’m so thrilled to have their music in Paradise Recovered. And I’m so excited to be headed to Indianapolis this weekend for the CD release party for their new album, “Goodnight Charlotte.” I can’t wait for people to see our film and hear the tunes that help to make it as good as it is.

In the mean time, check out this cool article about Cara in Indy’s NUVO magazine:
